The Agri Business Enterprise

G.A Limited is a poultry and livestock company focusing on selling chicks, poultry farming technology, consultancy and walking the farmer to success. G.A Limited seeks to provide markets for quality indigenous poultry meat. Our main focus is on kienyeji chicken whereby we specialize in the following breeds of chicken such as Kuroiler, Rainbow, Kari improved kienyeji and the indigenous chicken. We also sell mature hens/cocks for meat and kienyeji eggs.

We are also very proud of our consultancy department where we offer consultation services on poultry services, we also offer seasoned advice on structure designs for buildings as well as purchasing tips on feeds and incubation equipment. Our chicken breeds have the following advantages over the ordinary indigenous kienyeji chicken breed:-

Rainbow Rooster

  1. The chicken breed in Kenya came from India. The breed was a result of interbreeding two high yielding indigenous Indian chicken varieties.
  2. Rainbow Rooster birds look like the ordinary local indigenous (kuku kienyeji) chicken we usually keep in our homes. They grow very fast and lay more eggs compared to the indigenous chicken.
  3. The Rainbow chicken breed in Kenya can be reared by backyard farmers and commercial farmers as well. They are called Rainbow Roosters because they come in so many colors.

Kari Improved Kienyeji chicken

  1. Starts laying eggs from five to five and a half months
  2. Can lay between 220 to 280 eggs a year
  3. Shorter maturing period; this breed can attain 1.5kg in 5 months. A five months cock weighs 2kg if well fed.
  4. Low feeding and maintenance cost, you can supplement domestic feeds, very tasty and quality meat with good quality eggs with yellow yolk.

Kuroiler Breed

  1. They grow faster than ordinary chicken The maturity period is about 10 weeks compared to local breeds that take several months or even up to a year to mature. At maturity, Kuroiler chicken weigh about 3.5kg as compared to other breeds that weigh 2kg.
  2. They are scavengers Kuroiler chicken perform quite well under what experts call “scavenging conditions”. You can feed them on animal or plant remains. Unlike other breeds, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to feed them.
  3. Kuroiler chicken are just like indigenous chicken, their meat is tasty and they lay yellow York eggs.
  4. While indigenous chicken produce about 40 eggs per year, Kuroiler does about 150 eggs in the same period. While ordinary chicken weigh 2kg, Kuroiler weighs 1.5kg more.

Kienyeji

  1. Traditional indigenous chicken breeds identified in Kenya are heterogenous, with no standardised characteristics and performance and include varieties such as frizzled feathered, naked neck, barred feathered.
  2. Indigenous chickens consume less feeds than exotic breeds, are more resistant to diseases and have a ready market.
  3. They are as good as indigenous chicken As we all know, indigenous chicken produce tastier meat than modern breeds. Kuroiler chicken are just like indigenous chicken, their meat is tasty and they lay yellow york eggs.
  4. While indigenous chicken produce about 40 eggs per year, Kuroiler does about 150 eggs in the same period. They also weigh 2kg, Kuroiler weighs 1.5kg more.
